Google is working on bringing some features from the web version of Google Docs to the Android app. A recent APK teardown has revealed new features in development:
Bookmark Feature: Users will soon be able to add bookmarks in Google Docs on Android, similar to the web and iOS versions. This can be done by selecting text and tapping a + icon.
Document Tabs: A feature that allows users to create document tabs, which is currently only available on the web version, might be coming to the Android app.
AI Features: The Android app is also expected to get some AI tools, like "Summarize this document" and "Outline the main points," which are based on Google's Gemini AI system. These features, similar to those in Gmail, are still under development and not yet functional.
These updates aim to bring the Android app closer to the web version, improving its functionality for
users.
