⚠️ Gmail + Gemini Users: Important Privacy Alert
Google has rolled out new AI features that allow Gemini to scan the content of your emails — including
• attachments
• personal messages
• private conversations
And the most surprising thing?
👉 This setting is ON by default.
That means your inbox may already be getting analyzed for AI features like summaries, suggestions, and Smart Replies — even if you never turned anything on yourself.
Why this matters
These AI features read your email content to provide “smart suggestions,” but many users are uncomfortable with this level of access, especially when it includes sensitive personal or work messages.
What you should do
You can turn this off in a few seconds:
-
Open Gmail → click the Settings (⚙️) icon.
-
Select See all settings.
-
Scroll to Smart Features & Personalization.
-
Turn it OFF to stop Gmail/Gemini from scanning your inbox.
-
On mobile, go to Gmail app → Settings → Your account → Smart features → Off.
In short
Google’s new Gemini-powered features automatically analyze your email content unless you manually disable them. If you value privacy, this is something you should check right now.
