🗺️ Google Maps Changes Lake Ontario’s Name in the US

Google Maps has made a surprising change for users in the United States. 🇺🇸

The app now shows “Lake America” instead of “Lake Ontario.” 🌊

Why the Change?

Google made the update after the US government changed the official geographical name in its database. Google Maps follows official government naming sources for maps.

What Will Other Countries See?

The name depends on the user's location:

🇺🇸 US: Lake America
🇨🇦 Canada: Lake Ontario
🌍 Other countries: Lake Ontario (Lake America)

The lake itself has not changed — only the name displayed on Google Maps has changed.

The update has sparked debate online, with some users supporting the change and others preferring the traditional name.
